Weekly and monthly classes at locations around the DC area.
My classes are expressions of my more than 15 years of practicing and studying with a variety of different teachers. I emphasize mindful, conscious movement along with stillness to open doorways for practicing inner methods. In broad strokes, I sequence classes according to the Chinese Five Elements. So throughout the year, we gradually shift focus to different areas of the body according to the meridian pairs for each season.

Developed by master teacher Sarah Powers, Insight yoga is a heart-centered approach that interweaves the insights and practices of Yoga, Buddhism, Taoism, and spiritual psychology. A typical practice blends slowly-flowing (yang) postures, floor-based (yin) postures, pranayama, and seated meditation to create a foundation and refuge for personal inquiry.

Fridays - Lunch Yoga @ Yogaworks Alexandria

On the schedule at Pure Prana (now Yogaworks Alexandria) for nearly 10 years, my Lunch Yoga classes are an exploration in reconnecting the body-mind. Each class is tailored to the requests of the students and the energy in the room. Some days we work hard and invigorate the system, and other days we take it down a notch to focus on stress relief and restoration.
With a little flow and a little stillness, these classes are perfect for anyone with an investigative mindset and a willingness to play outside the box.

Referred to as "The Quiet Practice," Yin Yoga offers a framework for attending to the often overlooked inner realms of our body, mind, and spirit. The simple, floor-based postures - held for several minutes - provide a unique opportunity to release deeply held tension, free stagnant or blocked energy, and cultivate a peaceful quality of mind.
Mindfulness 101 ~ 12:15 - 12:45 pm
Mindfulness 101: Mindfulness is the practice of waking up to the present moment. To be mindful is to be truly alive and connected to yourself and those around you. Mindfulness also helps us lean into life’s inevitable ups and downs, helping to reduce stress and its effects while cultivating feelings of peacefulness and well-being.
